Thunder Bay Police spent several hours Wednesday evening attempting to contain and resolve an incident at Andras Court involving a firearm.

Officers were called to the complex just before 10:00 p.m. and located a woman with visible injuries.

They then learned the accused, a 32 year old Thunder Bay man had entered the woman’s home and assaulted her while holding a firearm, before fleeing the residence.

He was later located in a nearby apartment, and attempts to contact him failed forcing police to shutdown access to part of Cumberland Street for several hours.

Members of the Emergency Task Unit entered the home just before 3:30 a.m. and arrested the suspect without any further issues.

He’s been charged with:
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 3
• Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
• Obstruct Peace Officer
• Mischief Under $5,000
• Pointing a Firearm x 2
• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
• Carrying Concealed Weapon
• Assault
• Assault with a Weapon x 3

He appeared in bail court Thursday and was remanded into custody.
