8 new housing units proposed for Mary Avenue

Leadership with the City of Dryden is looking to support building four new homes and eight housing units on Mary Avenue.

The City of Dryden held a Public Planning Meeting at City Hall on June 12 with a presentation from Boreal Investments Inc on their proposed plans for 178, 180, 182 and 184 Mary Avenue.

If approved, Boreal is looking to build four semi-detached homes on the four lots with two living units in each, and each individual housing unit would include two bedrooms.

The city’s report from their Building and Planning department shows plans include access from Mary Avenue, each building would include municipal services, and Boreal says they’re aiming for ‘market level rent’.

Before the build can go forward, Council will need to rezone the four Mary Avenue lots from Residential Type 1 to Residential Type 2.

The matter is expected to be in front of Council on June 26 during their regular Council meeting.
