NSLC sales up in alcohol and cannabis

The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation released it’s year-end financial results.

Alcohol and cannabis sales were up in Nova Scotia from April 2022 to March 31, 2023.  There was a 6% increase in earnings with $284.7 million. Total sales for the year were $860.7 million, with beverage alcohol sales of $749.5 million and cannabis sales of $111.1 million.

There was an increase in sales in beverage alcohol as well as cannabis, which, led the way with a 41.8% increase.

Sales of Nova Scotia products increased across all categories. Local cannabis led the growth with a 41.8 per cent increase in sales to $33.5 million. Growth in other categories included:
— beer: up 8.3 per cent to $28.6 million
— wine: up 7.8 per cent to $16.8 million
— spirits: up 2.3 per cent to $12.9 million
— ready-to-drink products: up 9.8 per cent to $33.0 million.

There was also a 52.4% increase in sales to licensees such as bars and restaurants, as well as an increase in tourism to help.

The NSLC also continues to invest in the retail sector with two new stores, 11 new cannabis locations and seven store renovations.

The total sales for the liquor corporation was $860.7 million.
