More evacuees return home in HRM

By Kevin Northup Jun 11, 2023 | 12:40 PM

A number of people have returned home, two weeks after a wildfire in Tantallon.

The Halifax Regional Municipality lifted evacuation orders for several civic addresses Saturday night.

They include homes on Windbreak Run, Hemlock Drive, Wyndham Road, Ranchwood Lane, Longwood Lane, Morningsong Lane, Sylvania Terrace, Timberlane Terrace, Yankeetown Road and Caper Court.

If your civic address was not included, it is still not safe to return to your property.

Areas that haven’t opened still have checkpoints, and the municipality will lift more evacuation orders when safe to do so.

They will no longer use provincial alerts to lift evacuations.
