Some residents in Ignace will have to wait until later this afternoon before gas service is restored following an incident Saturday evening.

A release from the Township states at 6:00 p.m. contractors from a third party were installing fibre optics in the community, when they accidentally severed a gas line on Pine Street.

As of 11:30 last night Enbridge Gas was able to begin repairs on the line and is currently working to complete those repairs.

Residents on the South side of Lily Pad Lake Road will be without gas service until later this afternoon.

No further details on the incident have been made available by the Township, however is states the contractor has remained on site to assist.
