LWCB releases Winnipeg River Basin flood report

By Tim Davidson Jun 9, 2023 | 1:08 PM

The Lake of the Woods Control Board has released it’s final report on the flooding on the Winnipeg River last year.

From April 2022 to August, water was either at a record high, or not seen since 1950.

The Control Board says the flooding was due to no only high water on Lake of the Woods but also flooding on other rivers flowing in the Winnipeg River, like the English River system.

The high water was also the result of record precipitation in April and May thanks to a series of Colorado lows.

In the meantime, the Control Board says it will be holding an open house on June 14th at the Travelodge to talk about water levels in the Winnipeg River Drainage basin.
