The City of Kenora still hasn’t given permission to a junior hockey team to operate here.

A junior hockey team called the Kenora Islanders says it will formally announce the expansion francise next week.

The city says ice time hasn’t even been allocated for the Thistle Rink or the Bowman Electric Keewatin Memorial Arena yet.

Earlier this spring, the city put out a release says there a number of factors, including ice time, that prevents a junior hockey team from playing this fall.

The Kenora Islanders plan to make a deputation to city council at their Committee of the Whole meeting next Wednesday.
