SPCA workers have been busy during the wildfires.

They’ve reunited over 100 animals with families in Shelburne and Tantallon.

Sarah Lyon with the SPCA says enforcement officers have been coordinating with first responders in evacuated zones.

“Rescuing animals that people weren’t able to get through. We’ve also helped people that have been evacuated with their animals that can’t find a place to stay with them,” said Lyon.

They’re also feeding animals, and still trying to find many others.

She says they’ve been working behind the scenes to try and keep families together.

Lyon adds, it’s been an emotional week.

“To help try and keep families together, and to be the helpers on the ground when it comes to the animals. It’s very important work, and we’re very proud.”
