A 28 year old city man is in court today to answer to charges, including assault and assaulting a peace officer, following an incident Sunday morning.

Police were called to a home on Cumberland Street North just before noon, following reports of an assault.

They learned both the victim and the accused were known to each other and at 11:00 a.m. the man became irate, according to police, and attacked the victim while making threats.

Upon arrival officers located the victim, who appeared not to require further medical attention, as well as the accused.

As the arresting officer attempted to take the man into custody, the accused attacked the officer, and following a brief struggle was placed in handcuffs.

He faces several charges:
• Assault
• Uttering Threats – Death or Bodily Harm
• Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest
• Obstruct Peace Officer
