Lunenburg Town Council approved August 12 as the date for their upcoming byelection to replace former Mayor Matt Risser who resigned earlier this month.

The official nomination period opens on July 10, after which the town will provide official confirmation of the candidates running.

Although no one is officially a candidate as of yet, at least two people have come forward indicating they intend to run for the position.

Ed Halverson who currently sits on Lunenburg Town Council indicated he intends to run in a video posted to his Facebook page on April 13.

Jamie Myra, a local business owner, who has also previously served on Lunenburg Town Council (2000-2012) also announced on his social media that he intends to enter the mayoral race when it opens as well.

Once the official nomination period opens the town will publish information on all official candidates in local newspapers and on their online platforms.
