Members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union were out Monday in support of their bargaining team.

Local 715 President Gail Kelly the team is meeting with arbitrators as part of new negotiations due to the striking down of Bill 124, which was ruled unconstitutional.

“We could not negotiate for a wage increase because the government put the cap on. So this reopens it that we can go back and now negotiate on the ones where we got zero, zero and one.”

442 employees at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre are represented by Local 715, including those in the xray, diagnostic, social worker, dietary, and laboratory units.

Additionally to Monday’s event those rallying would also use the opportunity to speak to the public regarding a referendum that was held this past Friday and Saturday by advocates of public healthcare to emphasize their opposition to Bill 60, which is being seen as a move by the Ford Government to privatize healthcare.
