Central Ave to close for resurfacing work

By Adam Riley May 25, 2023 | 10:59 AM

A large section of Central Avenue will be partially closed to traffic starting at 7:00 p.m. tonight for the next four to five days.

The closure is to allow for paving between Balmoral and Memorial Avenues and will be broken up into two phases.

Phase 1 will see the closure of the eastbound lanes, allowing the flow of westbound traffic only.

Phase 2 will have the closures swap, with eastbound lanes open and westbound traffic will have to detour around.

Additionally there will be short periodic closures of the two intersections which cap off both ends of the construction area.

At the start of each night’s work the intersection at Balmoral and Central will close, at the end of the night’s work the Memorial and Central intersection will be closed.

This is to allow the safe movement of equipment in the area.

Drivers and pedestrians are asked to use extra caution and obey all posted signage in and around the construction area.
