RCMP nab 13 alleged impaired drivers in Sussex, Hampton regions

By Brad Perry May 19, 2023 | 1:30 PM

Mounties in the Sussex and Hampton regions are cracking down on impaired driving.

RCMP say they nabbed 13 alleged impaired drivers during the first 13 days of May.

As a result, police issued 12 driver’s licence suspensions and towed 12 vehicles and an ATV.

Mounties said one man who was stopped in Sussex Corner for alleged impaired driving fled the scene before he could be detained.

“Impaired driving remains the number one criminal cause of death on our roads,” said RCMP Sgt. Tyson Nelson in a news release.

“Impaired driving not only puts that driver at risk, but everyone on the road at the time – it could be your neighbour, your best friend, a family member, or me.”

Nelson also encouraged people who see a suspected impaired driver to call 911 with a description of the driver, vehicle, licence plate number and direction of travel.
