Complaints being made about loud vehicles again

It’s springtime and some Moncton city councillors have been starting to get complaints about loud vehicles again.

At Monday’s regular council meeting, Councillor Bryan Butler said both he and Councillor Dave Steeves have been hearing from residents lately about the issue.

Codiac RCMP Superintendent Ben Jolette said he encourages residents to call them even if they have little information.

“If there’s a vehicle, if we have a make, model or colour or if we just have a colour and we know it’s the same vehicle that passes with some sort of frequency, then that’s exactly where we can send our people to keep an eye out for these individuals.”

Jolette also noted how the community policing unit has formed a partnership with a local garage.

“When we find these vehicles that are loud and they don’t have the equipment that’s necessary, we can actually direct them to the garage and get checked out.”

Jolette said a recent blitz conducted by the provincial traffic enforcement unit found numerous violations and he added they will be returning to the Moncton area on a sporadic basis.
