Queens Neighbourhood Co-operative Housing Ltd. (QNCH) has secured substantial municipal support for their affordable housing initiative in Queens County.

The Region of Queens Municipality’s Council has allocated $203,200 in funding from their 2023-2024 operating budget to assist QNCH in completing the predevelopment work for 26 affordable housing units in Liverpool.

The project, estimated to cost around $6 million, aims to address the pressing need for affordable housing in the area. The funding will cover crucial aspects such as project management fees, architectural drawings, engineering fees, landscape architect services, and initial site clearing.

Mayor Darlene Norman expressed appreciation for QNCH’s efforts and emphasized the importance of their vision to provide affordable housing options for residents of all ages.

The project has garnered support from various organizations and government entities, with grants and additional funding applications underway.
