Parking fees in Halifax are about to increase.
Halifax Regional Municipality announced a 25 percent increase in hourly parking fees for pay stations throughout the city, bringing the total hourly cost from 60 cents to 75 cents.
The city says the increase is due to budget considerations and is motivated by the goals of the Integrated Mobility Plan, which the city says will create connected, healthy, affordable, and sustainable travel options.
The announce comes after the city faced backlash from business owners and commuters for a proposal to introduce weekend parking fees. Last month the city put those plans on pause, for now.
