Two cycling fundraisers join forces

By News May 11, 2023 | 6:07 PM

Two cycling fundraisers are teaming up to create a single event called NB Ride Against Cancer.

Proceeds from the newly named and expanded fundraiser will benefit cancer patients at both The Moncton Hospital and Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Health Centre.

Those who previously participated and supported the NB Docs Cycling Against Cancer Ride (Friends Foundation) and the Tour of Hope (CHU Dumont Foundation) are encouraged to join the new ride.

“It’s a win-win,” said Ryan Dillon, chair of Friends Foundation.

“For years, patients have benefitted from accessing treatment from one hospital, while being followed by a physician practicing at the other hospital. It makes sense that the ride helps the two health care centres.”

‘We’re thrilled to be working together as a community, generating funds for the same cause. There is strength in numbers, and we are delighted to add our efforts to support one ride for both local hospitals,” said Sébastien Dupuis, chair of CHU Dumont Foundation.

Cyclists ride on their own time and pace to reach their own fundraising goal and some are organizing group rides.

Although June is the ride month, the designated ride week is June 18-25.

Registration is underway and cyclists can sign up by visiting either foundation’s website, FriendsFoundation.ca under Ways to Give or DumontFoundation.ca under Campaigns & Events.

Donations can be made online through the same links.
