A 54-year-old Eskasoni woman as been arrested and charged with drug trafficking.

Local RCMP executed a search warrant on a home on Logan Drive where they found the woman to be in possession of Suboxone, a prescription drug used to treat opioid addiction. They also found a quantity of unstamped tobacco. The search was part of an ongoing investigation into the drug trade.

The woman has been charged with Possession for the Purpose to Traffic and Possessing Tobacco on Which Tax has Not Been Paid (Nova Scotia Revenue Act).

She is set to appear in provincial court in July.
