Drugs, firearm seized after disturbance at local business

Police in Dryden say two individuals from southern Ontario have been arrested after a disturbance at a local business – in which a firearm and multiple illegal drugs were seized.

The Dryden OPP say at 3:30 p.m. on May 9, officers responded to a business on Whyte Avenue after a report of a disturbance. Further investigation revealed both were in possession of drugs.

Police seized quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, a loaded firearm and a sum of Canadian currency.

As a result, an 18-year-old from Sault Ste. Marie has been arrested and charged with:

– Possession of a Schedule I Substance,
– Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking x2,
– Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000,
– Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose,
– Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm,
– Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm,
– Knowledge of Unauthorized possession of firearm,
– Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon,
– Obstruct Peace Officer,
– Resist Peace Officer,
– Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order,
– Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court x2,

As well, a 22-year-old from Gravenhurst has been arrested and charged with:

– Possession of a Schedule I Substance,
– Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking x2,
– Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000,
– Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose,
– Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm,
– Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm,
– Knowledge of Unauthorized possession of firearm,
– Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon,

The two suspects have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in court today.
