The return of the CAT ferry has tourism operators excited for the summer.

The Bay Ferries vessel will begin crossings between Yarmouth and Bar Harbor, Maine on May 25th.

Neil MacKenzie, Executive Director of the Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourism Association says they’ve been preparing since the fall.

“We’re delivering our marketing campaigns in the Northeastern US, we’re partnering with Bay Ferries and Tourism Nova Scotia to build capacity and grow this area as a destination,” said MacKenzie.

He referred to a recent Destination Canada survey that found more Americans visited Canada in January and February than the same time frame in 2022.

MacKenzie says that’s a good sign for the upcoming season.

“We’ve been working hard to build up our seasonality efforts for other seasons, but we know that the summer season is big for us with the ferry running and access to the United States.”

He recommends checking out their website for a list of things to see and do in the region.
