Police say a driver had a firearm pointed at her from another vehicle in uptown Saint John.

The incident happened at the intersection of Duke and Sydney streets around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday.

A 29-year-old woman reported that she had stopped at the intersection when someone in an older green vehicle pointed a firearm at her.

Police said the woman, who was not injured during the incident, drove away and called 911.

An officer spotted the suspect vehicle on St. Patrick Street a short time later. The vehicle was stopped by police and four people inside were arrested.

Investigators said a 32-year-old man was found to be in possession of an imitation firearm. He appeared in court on Tuesday afternoon on charges of assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and possessing a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public.

Meanwhile, a 31-year-old man was arrested for drug possession and a parole violation. Both remain in custody.

Two other men, aged 19 and 33, were released without charges, according to police.

Anyone who may have information about the incident is asked to contact the Saint John Police Force at 506-648-3333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
