A Nova Scotia man was arrested in Manitoba for sexual assault involving a child.

The crime happened, here at home, in Colchester County in 2020, but police found the suspect hitchhiking in the Winkler area, in April.

Police say it is believed the man was trying to cross into the United States.

He was brought back to Nova Scotia and has been sentenced to more than nine years for the sexual assault.

He will appear in court again later this month for motor vehicle theft charges.
