By News May 5, 2023 | 1:26 PM

A 35-year-old Moncton man has been sentenced to five years in prison following a drug trafficking investigation in the community.

Andrew Griffiths plead guilty this week to six offences including weapons and drug trafficking-related charges.

Upon his release from prison, he will be prohibited from owning firearms for life.

The New Brunswick RCMP Provincial Crime Reduction Unit (PCRU) began investigating in February and in April officers searched a home on Mill Road using a warrant.

A 35-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were arrested at the scene and seven charges were later jointly laid against them.

A second woman was arrested on an unrelated matter and later released.

The Provincial Crime Reduction Unit includes police officers from the New Brunswick RCMP.

Codiac Regional RCMP as well as RCMP Police Dog Services also assisted with the searches.

Anyone with information about illegal drug activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact their local police.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
