Employment rose by 41,000 jobs in April, all in part-time work, while full-time work held steady.

Stats Canada says the job gains were in wholesale and retail trade, transportation and warehousing, culture and education and educational services.  Employment decreased in business, building and other support services.

The unemployment rate didn’t change at 5%.

18,000 men gained employment between the ages of 25-54 and 16,000 jobs for men, 55 and older.

There was little employment change with women and youth.
