Five Saint Mary’s players picked in CFL Draft

The CFL draft was last night, and Saint Mary’s University was well represented.

Five players from the school’s football team were selected, tying them for the most players picked from any one school.

Aidan John was the first Husky picked, going 19th overall to the Ottawa Red Blacks. John led the Huskies in tackles this season and had one of the highest verticals of any defensive lineman at this year’s CFL combine.

Linebacker Markcus Jean-Loescher was the next SMU player taken. He was picked 34th by the BC Lions and will stay teammates with defensive back Jassin states-McClean, who the Lions selected with the 52nd pick of the draft.

Shedler Fervius was picked by the Montreal Allouetes at number 41 overall.

6’6 tight end Sebastien Howard was picked 49th by the Calgary Stampede.

The CFL season kick-off on June 8th.
