Halifax district RCMP have arrested a 70-year-old North Preston man for his involvement in a 2020 incident involving assault with a weapon.
Units arrived at the man’s house at 4 p.m. on Friday. They found him distraught, wielding a knife and axe, and threatening officers that he would not go willingly.
After some time and deliberation, officers were able to safely arrest the man by using chemical munitions to get him to exit the house.
He has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, failure to comply with a release order, and obstructing a peace officer.
He appeared in Dartmouth provincial court today.
