Changes to the Sioux Lookout transit system will be taking effect as of May 1st.

Starting on Monday, the on-demand service will be changing to an on-call system.

Rides will be $15 for a one way trip for adults, but $5 for youth under 12 and adults with a disability card, $2 for a youth with a disability card, and children under the age of 3, free.

The regular transit service will also increase the number of stops it makes.

Based on rider feedback, the town says its expanding the regular bus route to include a stop at the apartments on
Millar Crescent, a southbound loop through downtown, as well as stops at the Travel Information Centre and the Hostel on Sturgeon River Road.

Transit costs will remain the same.

As well, Hub Transit says it will be offering a charter service to Hudson every Friday.

It will be reviewed after 60 days to see how many people are taking advantage of the service.

It will be $60 for adults for a round trip and has to be booked a day in advance.
