A study on the viability of the CAT ferry is coming.

The province wants to issue a Request for Proposals soon on a broad economic-impact study of the Nova Scotia to Maine service.

Acting Public Works Minister Greg Morrow says they reached out to many organizations for feedback on the ferry.

“It included municipalities in the area, chambers of commerce, our caucus, the opposition, and the Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia. It’s going to be included in the study,” said Morrow.

The CAT carried roughly 40,000 passengers last year, it’s first season of operation since 2018.

The first sail is scheduled for May 25th this year from Yarmouth to Bar Harbor.

Morrow says the study will look at whether or not the CAT provides value and serves the needs of Nova Scotians.
