A fire at a nursing home in Tatamagouche forced 47 residents to evacuate last night.

10 of them were able to stay with family, while the remaining 37 were brought to the Tatamagouche fire hall. Volunteers from the Red Cross provided cots and blanket for those with mobility issues.

Fire crews responded to the nursing home at around 2:30 a.m. this morning according to reports. No one was injured in the fire.

A spokesperson for the Red Cross said that more volunteers remain on standby to assist with the residents staying at the fire hall. It is unclear when they will be able to return to the nursing home.
