An 86-year-old woman is dead after a crash in East Hants.

It happened over the weekend near Maitland when the vehicle she was riding in veered off the road and into the woods.

The 70-year-old driver was taken to hospital and police say he has serious injuries.

The woman who was killed was the only passenger in the car.

It’s not known what cause the crash.
