A plan to develop a new golf course in West Mabou has hit the rough.

The owners of Cabot wanted to lease a part of a provincial park in Mabou to build a new course but the province will not support the idea.

The company already operate two 18-hole courses in Inverness.

However, a formal proposal for the project was never submitted.

The proposal created some division in the community, with many opposing development within the prime location while others believe it could boost economic activity in the area.
