A 40-year-old man has been arrested after an alleged stabbing in uptown Saint John.

Officers were called to the Waterloo Street area just before 11 p.m. Wednesday.

They found a 36-year-old man with non-life-threatening injuries to his head and neck.

“It was alleged that the complainant had been assaulted by a man known to him who was armed with a knife,” police said in a news release on Thursday.

Officers arrested a 40-year-old man at a nearby apartment in connection with the incident.

He appeared in court Thursday on charges of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, and uttering threats.

The suspect was remanded into custody and has a bail hearing scheduled for May 15.

Meanwhile, police said the victim was taken to the hospital and later released.
