The ‘Centre of Excellence’ will focus on the African Nova Scotian community in Digby County, with programming for children, seniors, as well as those looking for economic and financial planning support.

The federal government will give another 2.6 million dollars to support construction.

The province has already given 6.8 million, and local municipal units and groups have contributed as well.

It will be a zero-carbon building.

Kerry Johnson with the Jordantown-Acaciaville-Conway Betterment Association says as they enter the first stage of construction, the focus shifts to fundraising and programming the centre will offer.
