One team advances to NWOSSA badminton championships

At least two Kenora badminton players have qualified for the NWOSSA championships next week in Thunder Bay.

Sophie Muise and Delaney Turner from St. Thomas Aquinas won a silver medal in their divison at the NorWOSSA championships in Dryden.

Fenton McEwen and Parker Francis finished in 4th place in their division and Maddyn Hughes lost in a 3-way tie to finish 3rd on the day.
Jake Kakepetum had a 3rd place finish.
150 games were played in 5 senior and 5 junior divisions and, when the games ended, Sioux North won the Senior team title with 33 points and Fort Frances finished second with 30 points.
At the junior level it was Northern Lakes High School from Atikokan that claimed the title with 38 points, the Dryden Eagles were next at 28.
In all, 9 schools sent representatives to the competition.
Only the top two teams in each division advanced.
