Sixteen hectares of land on 255 Bissett Rd in Cole Harbour may turn into a multi-purpose park.
It would be where the old Halifax County Rehabilitation Centre was until it closed in 2002, after having been in operation since the 1940’s. The buildings were demolished leaving a large open space.
The Rehabs Park Plan includes a scenic area, picnic areas, an off-leash area for dogs, a hill for sledding, trail loops for mountain bikes, disc golf, a naturalized meadow area, a lake pier and meditation labyrinth.
The plan will be proposed to the Community Planning and Economic Development (CPED) Standing Committee on April 20, 2023 and if the vote goes through, it’ll be taken to Regional Council, for the final say.
The proposal can be found here.
