Five Nova Scotians named to USports East-West Bowl

The rosters for the 20th annual USports East-West Bowl were announced, and five ova Scotians will be heading to Hamilton, Ontario to showcase their talents.

Julien Poirier-McKiggan, Nick Pilichos and Caleb Purdy were named to the East roster, while Lourenz Bowers-Kane and Ban Hadley were named to the West.

The East-West bowl is a chance for the top football players in Canadian University Sport to demonstrate their talents against one another ahead of the CFL draft.

Poirier-McKiggan is from Halifax and spent last season playing wide receiver for Acadia University alongside Pilichos, a Bedford native who plays offensive line. Purdy, of Dartmouth, is also an offensive lineman for Saint Mary’s University.

Meanwhile, Bowers-Kane, a linebacker from Dartmouth, recorded over fifty tackles for the Western University Mustangs, who finished with the best regular season record in the Ontario University Athletics conference. Hadley, a kicker from Halifax, led the AUS in field goals and extra points made. He helped St. Francis Xavier University win the AUS Loney Bowl and reach the national semifinals game.

This year’s East-West Bowl will be played at McMaster University’s Ron Joyce Field, On May 13, at 5 p.m. AST.
