Some local runners are representing the Quad Counties at this year’s Boston Marathon.

Christine MacFarland from New Glasgow, Antigonish’s Beth Horne and Jack MacDonald, and Port Hawkesbury’s very own Danielle MacDonald will participate in the world’s oldest marathon. They join over 30,000 other athletes looking to add their name to the race’s historic list of competitors.

This year is the 127th iteration of the marathon and marks the 10-year anniversary since the bombings at the Marathon’s finish line killed three people and wounded hundreds more. Memorial services are being held across America leading up the race, including a special ceremony at the Boylston Street finish line that took place over the weekend.
