Two new summer festivals debuting in Moncton

Two new international arts and culture related festivals are coming to Moncton this summer in a partnership between Downtown Moncton Centre-ville Inc. (DMCI) and the City of Moncton.

DMCI announced the events this week as part of the first installment of its summer 2023 programming.

The Moncton International Buskers Festival will be held July 14-16 and will include acrobats, a hula hoop expert, and a world class soccer juggler from South America performing in downtown Moncton for the inaugural edition.

The Moncton International Street Painting Festival is planned for New Brunswick Day weekend, August 5-7, and will feature 2D and 3D chalk artists from across the region and North America who will chalk giant street paintings around the Avenir Centre.

“These free admission, family focused arts festivals will add life to the streets of the downtown in addition to the already exciting summer activities planned,” says Patrick Richard, DMCI executive director.

“Given the international scale of the festivals, we are confident this will introduce downtown Moncton to new audiences around the world.”

Both festivals will include music stages featuring local musicians as well as family activities, such as a free kid’s chalk zone.

“We are thrilled to see these new festivals added to the already impressive list of summer offerings in the City of Moncton,” says Moncton Mayor Dawn Arnold.

“Showcasing two interactive art forms – busking and chalk art – will bring such an energy to our downtown and provide visitors and residents alike with one more reason to get out and enjoy the summer weather and all Downtown Moncton has to offer.”
