The Houston Government has made a substantial investment in the Municipality of Queens to enhance the quality of life for its growing population.

MLA Kim Masland announced that the municipality will receive $763,008 in funding that can be used to create services, improve accessibility, and housing, and upgrade transportation services. The Municipality will have until March 31, 2025, to use this funding and showcase the positive impacts it has on the community.

The investment is part of the Sustainable Services Growth Fund (SSGF), which has set aside $31.9 million to help eligible municipalities with their capital infrastructure needs. MLA Masland stated that the funding would boost the community’s economic opportunities, attract new businesses, and improve residents’ quality of life.

“By funding upgrades to municipal infrastructure in our region, we are investing in the future of our communities. This significant commitment will not only improve the quality of life for residents, but also attract new businesses and create economic opportunities,” said MLA Masland.

Queens will now have the opportunity to undertake projects that will help support their growing population, such as the creation of services, improving accessibility, housing, and upgrading transportation services.
