By Brad Perry Apr 13, 2023 | 2:09 PM

Minimal damage is being reported after a fire at a landfill in Charlotte County.

Crews were called to the Hemlock Knoll Landfill in Lawrence Station around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The Southwest New Brunswick Service Commission, which operates the landfill, confirmed the fire in a Facebook post on Thursday.

“We’re happy to share that everyone is safe and the damage was minimal,” said the post.

Firefighters from Lawrence Station, Rollingdam, Moores Mills and Western Charlotte were on the scene for more than seven hours.

The commission said landfill staff will continue to monitor for flare-ups, adding the facility is open for business as usual.

No injuries were reported among firefighters or commission staff who were also on the scene.

Huge thanks to all the fire crews and Commission staff involved in putting out a fire at Hemlock Knoll Sanitary Landfill…
