The Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital Charitable Foundation received a $1 million donation yesterday.

Zutphen Contractors Inc., known locally as Zutphens, made the donation in honour of their employees past and present.

As one of Nova Scotia’s largest contracting organizations, Zutphens has employed hundreds of people from Inverness County since being founded in 1964.

Co-owner Hervey van Zutphen said in a press release that “Our employees are the centre of our business, and we appreciate them all, including those who work with us now and years ago.”

Brenda Rankin MacDonald, the hospital’s fundraising coordinator, said that it is a great day for Inverness County. The money will be used for future equipment purchases and projects. She said that the donation will help both patients and staff.
