Tax deadline quickly approaching

By News Apr 12, 2023 | 8:53 AM

The date to file your taxes is less than three weeks away.

If you haven’t started compiling data yet, Canada Revenue Agency Resource Officer Mallory Holwell says there are several options available, “You can take your tax return to a preparer and have them file electronically or you can download the NetFile software that will allow you to file your own taxes at a free level or there are paid options as well.”

If you choose to file online, there are programs that make it easy to fill out all of your needed information, “You can log onto the Canada Revenue Agency’s MyAccount service and pull all of your information including your T slips, anything with the income you’ve received and it will automatically fill it into the tax return for you,” Holwell says.

Once your online return is completed, you can submit it. If you are getting a refund, it will be received within two weeks.

If you are owing this year, you can make arrangements for payments to the Canada Revenue Agency.
