Both Fort William First Nation (FWFN) and Impala Canada will be starting phase two in efforts to rehabilitate a Shebandowan West mine.

Spending $850,000 so far in the process to bring the mine location as close as possible to its original condition, Impala Canada has capped the mining infrastructure and secured the portal.

Starting this spring, FWFN is leading the work on reseeding and nurturing the property with natural plants, trees and flowers. Local top soil will also be used in the process and Impala Canada has stated they will continue with annual water testing at the site, as defined by the mine closure plan.
