A new era for the Municipality of Shelburne.

A state-of-the-art administration building will officially open Tuesday on Woodlawn Drive.

Warden Penny Smith says it’s an accessible building.

“The new building is going to be an efficient, single-level accessible building, with electric vehicle charging stations and solar panels. We continue to support our accessibility and renewable energy initiatives,” said Smith.

She said it’s exciting that they can offer a modern space for residents and staff.

The 7.2 million dollar building will also house the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Employment Services Development Canada.

Smith says the municipality has been assured that the Registry of Motor Vehicles, which was in the old building, will be staying in Shelburne.

The municipality doesn’t have plans for the old building, for now they plan to allow community groups to access it.

The first council meeting in the new building will be Wednesday, April 12th.
