Ann Carlson of Thunder Bay is coming home with $1 million after winning the Gold Ball Draw back in February.

Carlson, a retiree, says she initially saw an email from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission advising her of her winnings – but she thought it was a scam, and didn’t open it for weeks.

Then, Carlson says she finally logged into her account and confirmed the $1 million win.

“I’m at a loss for words. I feel very humbled,” she shared, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “This joy will be shared with family and friends. I’ve always wished I had the means to give people a helping hand and now I can do that.”

The winning ticket was purchased online at OLG.ca.

This is the fourth major win for northwestern Ontario this month!

Scott Dell of Sioux Lookout collected his $100,000 winnings on March 1 after matching 6 of 7 ENCORE numbers to win. His ticket was bought at the Fresh Market Foods in Sioux Lookout.

Jessica Shabaquay is $75,000 richer after winning big on an Instant Winner’s Circle on March 13. Her winning ticket was bought at the Red River Co-op Gas Bar on Government Street in Dryden.

And a family of five won $250k with an instant lottery win in Thunder Bay two weeks ago. Their winning ticket was purchased at Mac’s on Dawson Road in Thunder Bay.
