Yarmouth’s Jared Pitman is making the most of an opportunity.

The 16-year old forward has been called up to the Yarmouth Mariners as an AP.

He scored three points in their first round series win over Pictou County.

An injury to Nathan Kelly bumped Pitman up to the top line in Games 3 and 4.

He was named MVP of the Nova Scotia Under-18 Major League with the South Shore Mustangs this season.

Pitman says he played with some great players.

“It’s awesome to step up on a big line, especially on the 10th best team in the country. I came back from a good year in U18. To play with guys like (Reilly) Mayne and (Michael) Marquez, it feels pretty good,” said Pitman.

Head Coach and GM Laurie Barron says Pitman looked great, and could get more playing time in the next round.

Pitman says he’ll be ready if he gets the call again.

“I’m just going to focus on getting a bit stronger and putting on some more weight, and trying to see what my role is going to be.”

Yarmouth should have forward Nathan Kelly and defenseman Tyler Lee back in the lineup for Game 1 against Truro Saturday night.

Pitman was selected as a territorial draft pick in the 2022 MHL Draft by Yarmouth.
