Big cash investment for ’24 ON Winter Games

A large cash investment has been made into the 2024 Ontario Winter Games that will be hosted in Thunder Bay.

Both the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) and Tourism Thunder Bay handed over a cheque for $200,000 in funding support to the 2024 Ontario Winter Games from the CEDC Tourism Development Fund according to a release.

The last time the Winter Games were showcased in the city was 50 years ago. It’s an opportunity for young amateur athletes to showcase their skills and hard work and to gain experience in competition.

There’s expected to be more than 3,500 participants are expected to be in Thunder Bay competing in various winter sports both inside and out.

Athletes will be between the ages 12-18, plus their coaches, managers and officials seeing through to the completion of 27 various sports.

The Winter Games are expected to have an economic impact of $5M on the city.
