Sewer separation ‘major project’ for Town of Yarmouth this year

By Kevin Northup Mar 23, 2023 | 9:13 AM

Yarmouth residents will see another major sewer separation project this summer.

This time, it’s at the intersection of Main and Vancouver streets by the Milton horse.

Mayor Pam Mood says the project is tremendously important.

“The work will include rebuilding the road, pedestrian control for traffic, and traffic light upgrades. There’s lots involved with that. It’s an investment of nearly 2.4 million dollars, ” says Mood.

Sewer separations have taken place in recent years on Main and Parade streets.

Mood says crews will work in good weather, and try to have it completed as quickly as possible.

She said the town has put a lot of capital funding into projects like this the last few years.

“So we continue to do street paving, the active trails and sidewalks, and investments into our fire services. These are things that are important and help make us better as a community.”

There’s also a 650-thousand dollar investment for continuing to prep Mariners Centre for expansion work.

The budget totals 4.6-million.
