Areas just west of Thunder Bay and along the North Shore of Lake Superior are expected to get hit with 20 to 30 cm of snow starting later today according to Environment Canada.

However the agency notes there could be difficulty in tracking the storm and as a result snowfall amounts could vary.

As the system moves closer a winter storm warning could be issued.

Additionally, gusts of wind will create blowing snow bringing visibility down to almost zero at times.

Rapid accumulations of snow could make travel difficult over some locations and as a result, motorists should expect travel delays and road closures.

Residents are also advised to keep address signs and entrances to their homes clear to assist emergency responders should they be required.
