Some local organizations could get access to funding.
The ‘Reciprocity Health Fund’ supports community-based health and wellness projects in the Tri-Counties.
Last year, seven organizations were granted over 200-thousand dollars, including Yarmouth Life Skills and the Tri-County Women’s Centre.
Daniel Holland with the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia says it was a big help.
“The general feedback is, it’s over and above what they’ve been able to do in previous years. To my knowledge, there aren’t a lot of local grant programs like this that exist in many parts of the province,” said Holland.
The fund comes from an anonymous donor.
Holland says it’s a great example of local supporting local.
“The projects have been reviewed by people with local knowledge. We are a provincial organization, and we enable funds like this to dedicate their disbursement to certain themes or causes.”
Organizations have until May 1st to apply.
